Linda and I went with Field Street Baptist Church to the D. R. to work in connection with the (STCH) South Texas Children’s Home International Ministry in June. The ministry is head quartered in Santo Domingo. We stayed in the ministry head quarters located in connection with a Baptist church started by the Brown’s years ago. There is a story that goes with the Church that connects it to STCH. A wonderful story of Gods grace and power. The week was filled with sharing the gospel in schools, churches, and homes. We also had preaching by our pastor, Dr. John Hall during the scheduled worship services. During the day I built beds for some special children and Linda worked with the local ladies sewing group. Before the week was over we had completed the beds and I was privileged to be on the delivery team. Linda also helped complete a sewing project for the local pastors wife. The church was one of the most dynamic churches I have been in since China. They had teams who witnessed in the community every day as well as doing discipleship daily with the new converts. The youth did VBS type activities with several church schools and also helped build the beds. It was a great week. Here is the story. One of the great joys of each day was Linda and I having meals with one of Gods GREAT saints, Dorretta Brown. She is the mother of Joanna Berry, V.P. of International Ministry for STCH in Corpus. Dorretta is—-you fill in the blank with every thing good. Get her book–No Village To Far and read her life’s story. You will be BLESSED coming to know her–we were.
